Louisville, Ky. — Demetrius Gray, founder and chief executive officer of WeatherCheck, has announced that his company has been named a 2018 INGUARD Insurtech Fellow by Westfield Insurance and INGUARD, with headquarters in Wabash, Indiana. It is one of two inaugural recipients.
Gray will participate in an intense, eight-week program for entrepreneurs and innovators who have a business or idea to improve or disrupt the insurance industry.
“WeatherCheck was an obvious choice for the Fellowship. Demetrius is hungry, and has a deliberate vision for his company. We saw that right away,” said Parker Beauchamp, Chief Executive Officer of Inguard. “My colleague and I met Demetrius at a conference in Columbus last year. The thought leaders at the conference were there to share the knowledge they’d gleaned through trial and error. Demetrius and (WeatherCheck Chief Technical Officer) Jermaine (Watkins) were the smart ones – they went to listen. For the Fellowship, we wanted to work with companies that we believed would absorb information quickly. In that regard, WeatherCheck was an obvious choice.”
Gray said, “For us the fellowship is important because much of the insurance industry has a considerable amount of ambiguity. The INGUARD Fellowship will give us the chance to better understand the triggers for building an insurance-based business and understanding how the software we’ve already built can further disrupt insurance industry by challenging its conventional wisdom. We are incredibly grateful for this opportunity.”
WeatherCheck is the only company in the country offering historic, real-time, and predictive weather monitoring specific to an address. It is currently in its seed round of fundraising.
